This website is being developed as a result of the Dyslexia at Transition DVD which was launched by Sir Jackie Stewart on May 30th 2007 in Edinburgh. Throughout the summer every school in Scotland will receive a copy of the DVD and a series of Roadshows is currently being arranged for session 07/08 to introduce authorities to the DVD and offer teachers some ‘hands on’ experience of the disc and its potential.
The initial purpose of this site is to keep schools and authorities across Scotland up to date with the Roadshows but it is also hoped that this might become a permanent site, where information relevant to pupils with dyslexia, their parents and teachers may be posted at frequent intervals.
I am interested in supporting authorities to disseminate this DVD to every learning community. We already have expertise within most Pupil Support departments but we will not be in a position to ensure pupils with dyslexia are appropriately supported until every subject teacher has an understanding of the impact of dyslexia in every curricular area.
